The PCF group starts up a new collaboration with the MCBP group of Leon Terstappen to improve the early detection and to study the properties of circulating tumor cells. The project, which is co-funded by STW and industrial partners will be carried out by two PhD students and two technicians. It will combine and electrowetting-based digital microfluidic device with fluorescence and surface plasmon-based detection of the cells and their products. The project brings together urgent biomedical questions with state of the art microfluidic technologies.
