The outer few nanometer of a membrane can determine to a large extend the selectivity and fouling behavior of a membrane. Therefore understanding an controlling these interactions can lead to improved performance, but also to additional functionalities such as responsive behavior, anti-viral/anti-bacterial properties, easy cleanability and enhanced selectivities. Understanding of, and control over, the membrane surface interactions is studied in three research lines within the group
