Magnetic detection is arguably the most used sensing technology in our daily life and has proven to be a superior option in many applications: e.g. automotive and mobile communication. In the healthcare, however, this technology is yet to be utilised to its full potential. MD&I department develops and valorises medical devices based upon electromagnetic principles based upon nanoscale physics. Specifically, the nonlinear magnetic response of magnetic nanoparticles to a low external magnetic field (<30 mT) that follows a combination of Néel and Brownian relaxation. This technology shows great promise as an efficient replacement more invasive and expensive procedures. Magnetic detection technologies developed by MD&I intends to optimise the interaction between individual magnetic tracers and sensing devices.
