Harry Vaassen graduated with distinction!

Harry conducted his TG-M3 internship within our group last year, under the supervision of Daan Lips, Bryan Wermelink, Srirang Manohar and Bob Geelkerken. On January 14th, his master's thesis and defence were awarded with a 10 and he graduated cum laude from TG!

Originating from an M2-internship, he spend last year developing the promising ‘FLIGHT’ research line. In this research, sophisticated analysis methods are applied on fluorescence angiography to achieve an objective system that quantifies perfusion and vitality of the intestine during surgery. This should reduce the rate of (severe) perfusion-related postoperative complications. The first clinical pilot study showed very promising results!

The past year has been very productive with multiple peer-review publications, (inter)national presentations and grant applications. We hope to continue the FLIGHT line of research with Harry at the wheel.
