Our Integrated Optical Systems (IOS) group is a research group dedicated to advancing the key-enabling technologies related to integrated photonics. The group focuses on the development and optimization of novel optical materials, low-loss, and high-gain waveguide platforms, 3D photonic architectures, and advanced light coupling solutions over a broad spectrum range from UV to IR. The research carried out by the IOS group covers a range of applications, including but not limited to telecommunications, lidar, biosensing, and wafer-level optical testing. Our activities range from design, and fabrication (using the excellent clean-room facilities of the MESA+ Institute for Nanotechnology) to optical characterization with the IOS laboratories.
