Abstract:
Pulsed Laser Deposition (PLD) technology is a powerful vacuum deposition technique to grow many functional thin film materials. So far, it was mainly used in fundamental research on tiny substrates. This talk explains how the company SolMateS scaled the technology to wafer level, and how Lam Research further matured PLD to the stage of High Volume Manufacturing, enabling production of new functional materials for next generation applications.
Bio:
Matthijn Dekkers received his PhD in Applied Physics at University of Twente in 2007. In the same year he co-founded the company SolMateS. As CTO he ran the R&D division that scaled the Pulsed Laser Deposition technique (PLD). In 2022 SolMateS was acquired by Lam Research, and he became Director Engineering PLD.
