Mechanical strength of BIG-I, BIG-E, and NIPS derived alumina hollow fibers

This paper describes what the effect of the production method of alumina hollow fibers is on their mechanical properties. It shows that fibers made via bio-ionic gelation of an particle/alginate/caclium carbonate solution are stronger that fibers prepared via phase separation, but that the strength for a given of probability of failure is actually smaller.
