UT art collection
During the summer holidays we will show a summer exhibition with a small selection of artwork from the UT art collection. Can you see the similarities between the artworks?
About the artist shown
Hans Ebeling Koning (1931-2023) often worked outdoors. He sat down somewhere and let the surroundings take effect on him, often in his own large park-like garden with pond or in the neighbouring Arboretum, where he also often took visitors. The everyday and unpretentious is the starting point in his work. He opened himself up to any motif, but often ended up with landscapes, trees, flowers and plants. This springtime his work was shown at Rijksmuseum Twenthe and at galerie Villa de Bank in Enschede.
Ivo Kamphuis has been working for quite a few years on his series ‘The Animal Crusade’ in which animals revolt against humans, against animal degradation in the bio-industry, against hunting, against pollution. An artist with a mission. In late 2023, he participated in NATURE MATTER(S)2, artists in revolt.
Elsbeth Cochius is fascinated by structures and patterns in nature. Her linocuts consist of rhythmic patterns of root systems, treetops and swaying grasses or, on the contrary, are vast and scenic, or fixed on details of plants, insects or lichens that are not visible to the naked eye.
