In her conservative town, this wish leads to a big fuss, leading to the school even cancelling the prom altogether. Meanwhile, a couple of run-down Broadway stars in New York are looking for a way to boost their image. When they hear about Emma’s struggles, they travel to Indiana to stand up for equality – and to be in the spotlight again.
But while their well-intended activism clashes with local traditions, both Emma and the Broadway stars learn valuable lessons about love, identity and what it means to truly stand up for someone.
