The remnant of the void, the invisible man
This exhibition by Björn Zielman at Vrijhof is an extension of his presentation at Concordia, which took place in late 2024. For Vrijhof, the artist has now gone further in developing the concept; ZEN and cacophony come together, a collaboration between the artist and Artificial Intelligence.
As described in the accompanying text of his exhibition at Concordia: By using AI, with its infinite possible variations, to represent “nothingness”, Björn blurs the line between creativity and randomness.
In his work ‘I just really can't figure it out right now’, Björn Zielman creates a nothingness concept: The remnant of the void, the invisible man. This entity represents nothingness, symbolising the intangible aspects of human experience and the blending of technology and reality. This AI work also has infinite possible variations, further blurring the line between creativity and randomness.
When creating this work, he starts with a sketch in which the composition is built up. This sketch serves as a basis for further refinement. He then works out the details and further fills in the composition using AI. This methodical approach creates a harmony between the coincidences of AI and the artist's intentional choices
About the artist
The work of multidisciplinary artist and absurdist Björn Zielman (b. 1992) races past you like a cacophony. The feeling of overstimulation lingers after experiencing his work; it is eye-opening. Practising hysteria, stimulating madness and cultivating nonsense is his way of rebelling against oppressive rationalism. His work unequivocally rejects reason.
