Fitness helps you maintain a healthy body. You can work on your condition, strength, health, coordination and flexibility. Apart from these things, it also helps you to get better study and work results!
The Sports Centre of the University of Twente offers a modern fitness centre for students and staff of UT in possession of an UnionCard and Fitness subscription (students) or CampusCard (employees). Externals can also buy a CampusCard with a Fitness subscription.

Especially when you start exercising, it is important that you are being coached in the right way to stay motivated and prevent injuries. Fitness is the ultimate way to improve your health and work in a focused way on achieving your training objectives. Once you have got the hang of it and enjoy being active, it is important to keep challenging yourself. You can do this by trying out something new or by pushing your boundaries. You will never get bored with exercising in this way and you will be sure to keep growing. From time to time, fitness coaches will be present to advise you, so make the best possible use of them!

Whatever your training objectives may be, our fitness coaches are happy to make a training schedule for you! Schedule an appointment with a fitness coach in the fitness. An appointment will take about one hour.
PERSONAL FITNESS PLAN
Need more personal coaching?
By appointment, the fitness coach can make a schedule for you and explain this to you. Do you want more personal coaching in addition to the coaching and training schedules of our fitness coaches and would you like to have just a little bit more personal attention? Schedule an appointment for tailored advice. This package includes:
- You create a personal account for monitoring your progress and activities
- You do an online sports test together with the coach to see what type of schedule suits you best
- Together you discuss your training objectives
- The coach measures your body composition using a Tanita scale
- Together with the coach you draw up a personal schedule
- The schedule is then explained to you in the fitness room
After 6-7 weeks:
- You make a new appointment with your coach to discuss your schedule and progress
- A new body measurement is made
- Any adjustments can be made to the schedule.
After 12 weeks:
- You make a new schedule together with the coach
The price for the above-mentioned coaching is €25 in addition to your fitness club membership. Please sign-up below and the fitness coach will contact you as soon as possible.
Three times a week, employees of the UT with (occupational) complaints participate in the Medical fitness program at the Sports Centre. On fixed days and times, there is a physical therapist present for guidance. Employees who wish to make use of this option can make an appointment for an intake.
As an employee of the UT this training is free of charge.

Whatever purpose you have with your training, measuring your weight is often useful when following a training program. We offer with the Tanita scale a total body composition measurement.
The Tanita Body Composition Analyzer measures through a data signal as fat, muscle mass, moisture content. Combined with personal information such as height, weight and age the analyzer gives a very accurate assessment of body composition.
The Tanita body composition analyzer is very easy to use, if you log in with the MyWellness app your measurements will be saved and you can track your progress. You can track your measurements for a longer period. From the information we get from your measurements we can for example learn whether your muscle mass actually increased in strength, or your fat mass decreased by your weekly workouts. It is important that each measurement is performed under the same conditions because the moisture throughout the day changes. So therefore measure before you start your workout.

Starting 4 February we will work with theme months in the fitness. Every month will have a different theme which will focus on a fitness aspect. In February weightlifting will be the first theme. During the month we will offer a workshop and there will be an option to show your strength in a challenge and compete with others!
The Snatch and Clean & Jerk are essential weightlifting movements for everybody who wants to train explosive power. Do you want to learn these movements but are you unsure where to start? This workshop is perfect for you! During this workshop you'll learn the basic fundamentals of the olympic movements, making it a perfect start for implementing these movements into your training program!
