Simulation patients: simulated diseases, real lessons Science Café on Tour

Technical Medicine students are trained at UT. These medical-technical doctors combine medical and technical knowledge to integrate operating robots into the hospital, for example. In the process, they also come into contact with patients. To prepare them properly for this, the Technical Medical Centre has trained 50 simulation patients. With them, students practice a consultation to get a picture of the complaints. And to get in touch with the person behind the disease, including emotions. Esmeralda Wouters (coordinator simulation patients Tech Med) and Drs Annelies Lovink (researcher and trainer simulation patients Tech Med) talk about the importance of these special “patients” and show what simulation does to you.

Moderator: Prof Dr Ir Hans Hilgenkamp, scientific director nanolab MESA+ (UT) and board member of De Maatschappij Department Twente.

This programme is sponsored by De Maatschappij Departement Twente and was created in cooperation with cultural centre Herberg de Pol.

Place: Culture centre Herberg de Pol, Raadhuisstraat 8, Diepenheim
