One year at Google

Technology companies like Google are facing a number of deeply philosophical and social challenges – ranging from disinformation to hate speech. The expertise on these issues lies with academics and researchers, but it remains a problem that much of this expertise fails to have an impact on the technology industry. Johnny Søraker will reflect on what one year in Google has taught him about how his earlier research could have had more impact on the technology industry. Academia and industry can help each other.

Dr. Johnny Hartz Søraker left his job as Assistant Professor in the UT Department of Philosophy to continue his career as a Policy Specialist and Senior Strategist for Google Inc.
