Advanced Manufacturing Sustainable Products & Energy Systems (AMSPES)
In the framework of the research theme “Sustainable Products & Energy Systems”, research is executed which supports a better integration of renewable and energy-efficient technologies in products, buildings or local infrastructures.
Governance and Technology for Sustainability (CSTM)
In our vision, sustainable development of societies relies crucially upon the appraisal and improvement of the interplay between ecological, social and technical resources. The challenge of sustainable development can only be handled by their productive co-evolution.
Energy, Materials and Systems (EMS)
The research of EMS is application oriented and greatly benefits from its internationally recognized expertise and unique infrastructure on applied superconductivity and cryogenics. The main focus is on sustainable energy, with the ambition of developing technologies, materials and systems that play a key role in our future energy chains.
Integrated Devices and Systems (IDS)
The group of Integrated Devices and Systems (IDS) studies the heart of electronics: electronic and electromechanical components. Think of transistors, diodes, solar cells, and sensors.
Inorganic Materials Science group (IMS)
The group led by Dr. Rebecca Saive is developing photonic materials systems that enable new applications and enhanced performance for light-energy conversion.
Mathematics of Operations Research (MOR)
We work in the mathematics and practice of Operations Research, in particular Combinatorial Optimization, Approximation & Online Algorithms, Mathematical Programming, Discrete Mathematics, Graph Theory, Algorithmic Game Theory, and Mechanism Design.
Power Electronics (PE)
Power electronics is nowadays found in almost every system where electricity is used for computing, communication, renewable energy harvesting and transportation. It is a key technology for improving energy efficiency and reduce CO2 emissions.
Systems Engineering and Multidisciplinary Design (SEMD)
We investigate designing in the field of multidisciplinary systems and research the role of Systems Engineering (SE) as an integrative discipline next to the traditional engineering fields.
Sustainable Process Technology (SPT)
The key disciplines of the group are: process development, separations, reaction/reactor engineering and industrial chemistry/catalysis. In our research method we include the evaluation of whole process chains in order to identify main bottlenecks and related scientific challenges.
Thermal and fluid Engineering (TFE)
Modern engineering challenges concern the design and development of processes and equipment with high performance and minimal environmental impact, i.e. effective use of resources, energy and minimal generation of waste products and noise.
