For the top 10% students, the BSc PSY programme offers an excellence programme within the curriculum. When participating in the STAR programme, students do a different project than the standard offered project in a module. A STAR project is more challenging and more in-depth and is intended for ambitious students. Students can distinguish themselves with a STAR project after being selected during the previous module.
Selection
Participation in the STAR programme is by selection only. The selection process will be conducted separately for each module. While academic performance (grades) is one of the criteria, motivation and demonstrated (study) behaviour will also play an important role. Motivation should not only be on a meta level, also motivation revolving around module characteristics plays a role in the selection. The latter means that students who actively engage in educational activities and contribute positively during group work are encouraged to apply for the BSc PSY STAR programme. Selection decisions will be made in consultation with the concerning module coordinators, teachers and supporting staff (study advisers and/or programme coordinator). Students will be invited to participate via the BSc programme Canvas page by the programme coordinator based on the criteria outlined above.
Graduation with distinction
Successful participation in the STAR programme leads to a statement of the STAR/Excellence programme for the relevant module on the diploma supplement. Completion of the STAR programme may also result in graduating with distinction (Cum Laude) as stated in the BSc PSY Programme Specific Part of the Education and Examination Regulations (EER).
