DEAN alumni event: Oslo

Urban Farming is a growing phenomenon in a world increasingly concerned about sustainability and eco-friendly food sourcing. During a special DEAN event in Oslo on Wednesday September 11th you are invited to join a presentation by a TU alumnus who is the co-founder of a local start-up active in this area.

UT alumnus Dirk-Jan van Lubek (EL’00) is the CTO of BySpire which since 2015 has aspired to become Norway’s largest company for the vertical cultivation of food – the journey so far has included setting up a 100 square meter plant in the outskirts of Oslo, being a 2018 national finalist in the Nordic Startup Awards, and recently switching the business focus to that of a solution provider. During his talk Dirk-Jan will share the inspiration and vision behind BySpire along with the realities and challenges of being an entrepreneur in Norway.

The evening programme will also include updates from both Twente and the other Dutch technical universities, as well as a 'borrel' mixer with fellow alumni – a great way to start accessing our shared ‘DEAN**’ Nordic network of 4000+ local graduates including nearly 500 in Oslo!
