On the 1st of May 2021, S.V. Arago organizes a congress “Accelerating to the Future” in celebration of its tenth lustrum. Not only students of Applied Physics are invited, but also the alumni! Due to the corona measures, participants from outside the University of Twente can't join the congress physically in Enschede. However, to give everyone the opportunity to join, the congress is also organized online. In this way you can join the congress from your home, where you will also receive a nice goodiebag!
During the congress, various renowned physicists from the Netherlands will be given a stage. The invited speakers will talk about their research and their vision of the future of science, specifically in the field of physics. In order to offer a program that is attractive to as many visitors as possible, speakers from various physical disciplines have been invited. In the coming weeks, the speakers will be announced one by one via our website and via the Instagram account @arago.lustrum.x. On this Instagram page, you can also learn more about the other lustrum activities. The speakers currently announced are:
- Prof. dr. Joost Frenken Director of Advanced Research Center for Nanolithography and Professor in Experimental Physics at UvA and VU
- Dr. Adil Acun Lead Quantum Engineer at ING
- Prof. dr. Ewine van Dishoeck Professor in Molecular Astrophysics at Leiden University
The remaining speakers that are to be announced are active in the fields of fluid physics and optics, among other things. Next to these individual speakers, there will be an interactive panel discussion where a couple of guests will discuss the connection between academics and industry.
