The Female Faculty Network Twente is inviting you to the workshop
“Negotiation” Results and relationships
by Brigitte Hertz
On Thursday 20th March from 13.00 till 17.00 hrs.
In building Logica
Different people have different objectives and they try to overcome these differences through negotiation. This occurs everywhere: in academia, as well as in the family. The question always seems to be whether the negotiation should be soft or hard. The hard negotiator always wants to win, turns the negotiation into a competition, invites hard responses to his hard actions and ends up in a deadlock. If this type of negotiator wins the argument, he may lose a valuable relationship. The soft negotiator avoids personal conflict; he makes concessions to maintain the relationship, but in the end feels unsatisfied with the results achieved.
In this training we will look at both relations and results. Different stratiegies will be explored as well as communication styles. Participants will practise their negotiating skills in a real life case.
Brigitte Hertz studied social psychology at the University of Amsterdam. She also started her scientific career at the department of environmental science at this university. Here she combined doing research with coordinating educational programs and training students. At the same time she worked as presenter at a local radio station.
After fifteen years at the university she made training her profession and started her own company. She combines a large diversity of stimulating forms and an informal approximation with a structured and purposive approach.
Special trainings for academics include:
She als wrote a book on presenting research, (in Dutch) called “Presenteren van Onderzoek’, ISBN 90 8506 140 7. For more information (in Dutch) see www.bhertz.nl
