“Submitting Successful EU Research proposals"

An “Insider’s View”

by Giles Stacey

on Thursday 15 January from 15.00 till 17.00 hrs.

in the Horsttoren, room T1300

Based on more the 15 years involvement in evaluating research proposals submitted to the European Commission, Giles Stacey will discuss the process and offer advice on how you can increase your chances of a successful outcome.

Giles has a Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering which he followed up with a PhD in Wind Energy. He has since worked in a variety of energy-related areas and this has included working for the European Commission on a consultancy basis. In addition to monitoring ongoing projects to ensure their conformity with contractual obligations – both technical and management - he has been involved in evaluating proposals submitted under several Framework Programmes. It is this experience that he will share with us. Giles also works as a language editor and some of you may have used his services in the past to tidy up journal papers etc.

FFNT aims to support the professional development of women in academia and to provide a network for sharing and exchanging experience. It develops workshops and lectures specially for women and also organises activities aimed at women jointly with PA&O (whose activities are otherwise gender neutral).
