OVERVIEW OF DOCUMENTS

When doing an internship, BSc-thesis project or MSc-thesis project at an external organisation (such as a company or institute) some formalities need to be signed in an agreement.

Note that the University of Twente is a public institution funded by the government, therefore the aim is to publish all information resulting from a student project depending on the policy within the various study programs.

UNL ASSIGNMENT AGREEMENT (INCLUDING CONFIDENTIALITY)

For internships, the standard assignment agreement to be used is the format of UNL. This UNL assignment agreement and related information (available in English and Dutch) can be downloaded from the website of UNL. The format has been specifically developed for student assignments and has been approved by the UT legal department.

For graduation assignments, and in specific situations for internships (in consultation with the internship coordinator of your study program) the format of the Faculty of Engineering Technology can be used. This can downloaded here below:

From the above it might be obvious that it is important to produce a report that could be published (depending on the policy within the various study programs). 

Therefore make sure that that no confidential information is included in the final report. Communication about confidentiality with your host organisation supervisor is essential to avoid conflicts in later stages.

Confidentiality Agreement (Geheimhoudingsverklaring)

The use of Confidentiality (or: Non-Disclosure) Agreements should be avoided as much as possible. Having the right to publish your report and the outcomes of your work is important for your career and your résumé, and serves as an inspiration for other students.

If the external organization insists on confidentiality, it is strongly recommended to use the Confidentiality Agreement as set up by the Faculty of Engineering Technology. This document is both available in English and Dutch.

NDA Agreements do not apply to the Bachelor Final Assignments of IDE students because the reports of these students are always treated as indefinitely confidential.
