The seabed of shallow seas, like the Dutch North Sea, is covered by bedforms, from ripples to sand banks, including tidal sand waves, which affect tidal flow. Riverbeds are also covered by dunes and scour holes, which can affect navigability or salinity distribution, for example. Bedforms definitely affect the nature around us, but do we know everything about them?
The Marine and Fluvial Systems group organises the 8th edition of the MARID Conference (Marine and River Dune Dynamics), where we will present and discuss the advances on bedform-related knowledge. With the theme ‘From patterns to practice: (applied) research across all scales’, we encourage participation from the academic and the practice community.
