Transitional arrangement in Master EST programme 2025-2026
Regarding the obligatory part of the programme:
- Course Perspectives on Learning in Education and Work 202400336 (10 EC)
In 2025-2026 Perspectives on Learning in Education and Work 202400336 (10 EC) will no longer be offered.
Students who participated and submitted assignments in Perspectives on Learning in Education and Work in blocks 2A+2B of 2024-2025, but did not complete the course, will have two more chances to redo one (or some) assignment(s), while retaining previously completed assignments, during the first semester of 2025-2026. Because the course Perspectives on Learning in Education and Work will no longer offered after 2024-2025, the required retakes will be arranged individually.
- Course Research Proposal EST 201200035 (5 EC)
Replaced by new course: Your Agency, Balance, Career & Development 202500253 (5 EC)
This new course is offered in block 1B (for September cohort) and in 2B (for February cohort)
In 2025-2026 Research Proposal EST 201200035 (5 EC) will no longer be offered.
Students who participated and submitted their Research Proposal in blocks 2A or 2B of 2024-2025, but did not pass the course, have two options:
A) They are entitled to two more chances to re-submit an improved version of their Research Proposal during the first semester of 2025-2026 (deadline(s) to be decided in consultation with student and teacher).
If the student chooses this option, the first re-take deadline will be scheduled early in the academic year to ensure optimal flow in the programme.
In the unlikely event a student still does not pass Research Proposal after these retake opportunities or when the student did not use these opportunities, this course will be replaced in their study programme with the new course Your Agency, Balance, Career & Development (5 EC) that they must then follow instead. The same applies to students (who started in 2024-2025 or earlier) who did not participate in Research Proposal in 2A or 2B of 2024-2025. They must also follow the course Your Agency, Balance, Career & Development instead in 2025-2026.
B) Instead of retaking Research Proposal, students may also choose to transfer to the new 2025-2026 course Your Agency, Balance, Career & Development (5 EC).
Students who transfer to Your Agency, Balance, Career & Development and who have already successfully completed the Workfield assignment within the course Perspectives on Learning in Education and Work 202400336 (or within the previous course Trending Topics in EST 201200034), will receive a partial exemption in the new course Your Agency, Balance, Career & Development and do not have to do the Workfield assignment again within this new course. All other parts of the course Your Agency, Balance, Career & Development must still be completed.
The student must inform the EST study adviser which option (A or B) they choose as soon as it becomes clear they have not passed Research Proposal in 2024-2025, but at least before the start of the 2025-2026 academic year.
- Final Project EST 201200036 (25 EC)
Replaced by revised version: Final Project EST 202500254 (20 EC)
In 2025-2026 the Final Project 201200036 of 25 EC will be replaced by the new Final Project EST 202500254 of 20 EC.
Students who already started working on their Final Project in 2024-2025 (or before) can continue with it and finish their study programme with the 25 EC version.
Students who have not yet started working on their 25 EC Final Project in 2024-2025 and who have also not yet completed the course Research Proposal (within the transitional arrangement for Research Proposal mentioned above), will transfer to the new 2025-2026 version of the curriculum with the 20 EC Final Project combined with the course Your Agency, Balance, Career & Development (5 EC). Because this new final project trajectory is in total 25 EC instead of the former 30 EC, this means that with this transfer students must take one additional elective course, bringing their study programme to 60 EC.
Regarding the elective part of the programme:
The courses Learning and Instruction 202300197 (5 EC), Lifelong Learning in a Changing Society 202500252 (5 EC), and Assessment of Learning and Performance 202500256 (5 EC), will be obligatory courses for students in the 2025-2026 study programme (and onwards). However, for students in the 2024-2025 (or previous) study programme, these courses will remain electives. They can choose the new courses as electives if they have not taken the previous equivalent course before.
- Course HRD & Technology in a Live Context 201600126 (5 EC)
In 2025-2026 HRD & Technology in a Live Context 201600126 (5 EC) will no longer be offered.
There are no students who participated in the examination of HRD & Technology in a Live Context in block 1B of 2024-2025 but who did not pass this elective course. Therefore, a retake arrangement for this course is not necessary.
- Course Regulation and Facilitation of Workplace Learning 202300255 (5 EC)
Replaced by new course: Lifelong Learning in a Changing Society 202500252 (5 EC)
This new course is offered in block 1A (for September cohort) and in 2A (for February cohort)
In 2025-2026 Regulation and Facilitation of Workplace Learning 202300255 (5 EC) will no longer be offered. Instead a new course: Lifelong Learning in a Changing society 202500252 (5EC) will be offered. For students in the 2025-2026 study programme this will be an obligatory course. Students from previous cohorts may take the new course as an elective, in case they have not taken Regulation and Facilitation of Workplace Learning before.
There are no students who participated in the examination of Regulation and Facilitation of Workplace Learning in block 2A of 2024-2025 but who did not pass this elective course. Therefore, a retake arrangement for this course is not necessary.
- Course Educational Measurement 201500149 (5 EC)
Replaced by revised version: Assessment of Learning and Performance 202500256 (5 EC)
In 2025-2026 Educational Measurement 201500149 (5 EC) will be revised into a new version of the course named Assessment of Learning and Performance 202500256 (5 EC). For students in the 2025-2026 study programme this will be an obligatory course. Students from previous cohorts may take this new course as an elective, in case they have not taken Educational Measurement before.
Version A) t.b.d. after retakes in summer ‘25 whether version A or B applies
There are no students who participated in the examination of Educational Measurement in block 2B of 2024-2025 but who did not pass this elective course. Therefore, a retake arrangement for this course is not necessary.
Version B)
Students who participated in the examination of Educational Measurement in block 2B of 2024-2025, but did not pass the course, have two options:
A) They are entitled to two more chances to re-submit an improved version of their assignment in 2025-2026 (deadline(s) to be decided in consultation with student and teacher).
In the unlikely event a student still does not pass Educational Measurement after these retake opportunities or when the student did not use these opportunities, the student must choose and follow another EST elective instead.
B) Instead of retaking Educational Measurement, students may also choose to drop this course and follow another EST elective instead.
This option B is advised by the EST programme.
- Course Leadership and Organisational Change 201200032 (5 EC)
Replaced by revised version: The Art and Science of Change 202500257 (5 EC)
This new course moves from block 2B to 1B
In 2025-2026 Leadership and Organisational Change 201200032 (5 EC) will be revised into a new version of the course named The Art and Science of Change 202500257 (5 EC). Furthermore, this new course will be offered in block 1B instead of 2B. Students from previous cohorts may take this new course as an elective, in case they have not taken Leadership and Organisational Change before.
Version A) t.b.d. after retakes in summer ‘25 whether version A or B applies
There are no students who participated in the examination of Leadership and Organisational Change in block 2B of 2024-2025 but who did not pass this elective course. Therefore, a retake arrangement for this course is not necessary.
Version B)
Students who participated in the examination of Leadership and Organisational Change in block 2B of 2024-2025, but did not pass the course, have two options:
A) They are entitled to two more chances to re-submit an improved version of their assignment in 2025-2026, during the run of the new course The Art and Science of Change in block 1B (without being required to attend the classes).
B) Instead of retaking Leadership and Organisational Change, students may also choose to drop this course and follow another EST elective instead.
This option B is advised by the EST programme.
When students have questions about these transitional arrangements for their specific situation they should contact the study adviser.
