Who is approaching me?

Smart bikes: who is approaching me?

Problem Statement:

When cycling, have you ever been unexpectedly overtaken by other cyclists, causing a sudden imbalance? Or felt annoyed and unsafe during rainy days when you need to look behind to change lanes or make turns? We want to raise awareness to cyclists about what’s behind them and provide actionable steps to enhance safety and comfort using IoT technology.

Tasks:

We have designed BAT-Fiets, a radar-based rear collision warning system, which has won the “best design award” in the smart connected bikes hackathon. Your task is to further enhance BAT-Fiets by adding a low-cost classification method. This method will help identify approaching objects based on the radar cloud points, ensuring cyclists stay informed and ride confidently.  All facilities, such as (E-)bikes, sensors and processors will be provided.
