Internal Robotics Symposium 2021

On the 22nd of September, the Internal Robotics Symposium will take place! During this low-barrier event, you will get to know other robotics or robotics-related researchers of both University of Twente and Saxion. In this edition, we would like to allow you to attend either physically on campus or online.

Program

15:05 - 15:45

After a short opening at 3PM, our keynote speaker Professor Katja MombaurCanada Excellence Research Chair in Human-Centred Robotics and Machine Intelligence - will kick off this symposium. In her keynote she will share her expertise in human-robot interaction, wearable and humanoid robots, and human motion analysis.

15:45 - 17:00

Following this fascinating talk on human-robot interaction and humanoid robots, colleagues from several groups will share their perspective and work field linked to this topic.

  • Arvid Keemink - Assistant professor Biomechanical Engineering
Next steps in lower-extremity exoskeleton research.
This presentation highlights our current strategy, challenges and future plans for incorporating force control to achieve stable standing balance, balance recovery and walking with paraplegic patients in an exoskeleton robot.

  • Wouter van Dijk - PhD student Applied Mechanics
In this talk, we introduce polynomial chaos for the task of robust predictive modelling and show the current limitations when applying polynomial chaos to robotic systems.

  • Frank van der Velde - Professor of Technical Cognition at the section of Cogniton, Data, and Education (CODE)
In the presentation, I will outline how cognitive psychology, which studies human cognition and behaviour, could be useful for the development of robot abilities and their interactions with humans.

  • Sara Falcone - PhD student HMI & Team i-Botics Xprize
This presentation investigates the relation between the Sense of Embodiment and Teleoperation, moreover it briefly introduces the project realized for the XPrize competition.
17:00

Closing and on campus drinks. At 5PM it is time for our colleagues who are joining us on campus, to reconnect and catch up over some drinks.

We hope to see many of you, either physically at the campus or online, on September 22!
