Python is a programming language that is increasingly popular in the field of science. Being open source and freely available, it helps to make scientific results easier to reproduce. Python is designed to be easy to read, making it fun to work with, yet it is very powerful. It has good interoperability with other languages and many (scientific) libraries are freely available. If you know how to program in Python you can solve many problems in the scientific field, but also beyond; for instance to turn your academic code into a prototype or product.
This course is intended for researchers who need programming in their daily work for e.g. scripting, signal/image processing, or visualization. Previous programming experience helps, but is not mandatory.
