Context-aware networks are wireless networks in which the devices
operate and utilize the information about the circumstances to improve
the network performance. A Bloom filter is a space-saving data structure
to represent a set of information. It can represent a variety of
information in a simple and efficient way. In here, we propose a novel
approach to perform context discovery in context-aware networks by using
attenuated Bloom filters. The context information is hashed into Bloom
codes. Each node has an attenuated Bloom filter which contains the
information of neighbors certain hops away.
Based on the results of performance analysis, attenuated Bloom codes
appear to be a very promising approach for context discovery.
