Programme & Schedule
You will carry out all activities that are divided over the following three phases:
* UC | MONDAY 23 JUNE 2025 Find common ground
The first day will be all about becoming acquainted with each other, the city and the challenge.
Location: Museumfabriek
- You as a CurioCities participant will get to meet regional students. They are the same age as you! The students will present tangible concepts that make us rethink how to make better circular choices, and who we need for this to make it happen.
- Together, you will explore all the exhibitions of the Museumfabriek. Learn more about the textile history of Enschede, biodiversity, art and the Twente culture.
- We will end the afternoon with an introduction to Responsible Futuring: the approach that we will be applying throughout the city trip. You will be introduced to the specific challenge that you will work on. Lastly, you get a nice surprise that you will use throughout the city trip!
- In the evening, we will relax and have dinner together.
* I HEAR U | TUESDAY 24 JUNE 2025 EXPLORE DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW
To truly understand and embrace multiple perspectives, you will meet and talk with local society representing companies, academics, students, civic society and government on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Location: University of Twente (UT) campus
Your first location at UT will be at the DesignLab facility: an inspiring location where society and academics come together to learn, create and collaborate.
- In the morning, after a fresh kickstart, there will be an inspirational speaker talking about Climate Resilience and the relation with circular society.
- Let's get started with the first part of the workshop! We assemble the groups, and with the use of tools and exercises you will articulate the challenge: what is important according to you, what are your assumptions? And which stakeholders are involved?
- You will be informed about your final personal lifeline programme. Every hour, you join a different interactive and insightful showcase from a UT expert. This could be in the field of health, safety, climate and chip technology, related to the circular society.
- Reassemble at DesignLab and reflect on what you have discovered throughout the day.
- Every heard of 'noaberschap'? Time to have dinner together and enjoy some social and relaxing activities. Activities will be outside when the sun is showing its best side!
* I HEAR U 2 | WEDNESDAY 25 JUNE 2025 EXPLORE DIFFERENT POINTS OF VIEW
To truly understand and embrace multiple perspectives, you will meet and talk with local society representing companies, academics, students, civic society and government on Tuesday and Wednesday.
Location: In Enschede city centre and at a local company.
- While you walk through Enschede, you will be guided by professional guilds. You will explore arts and architecture, parks, villas and country houses. Look around you, as it provides you with valuable input for the challenge that you redefined!
- The local company that we will visit, showcases the latest technological developments. This will be at a location, that you would not have seen as a tourist.
- Find your groups and reflect on what you have discovered throughout the day.
☝️ More details about day three will be published on the 1st of May, 2025.
* WE GROW | THURSDAY 26 JUNE 2025 Desirable future cities
In the past few days, we hope that you have opened your mind, and learned more about yourself as well as the perspectives, values and goals of people involved and affected by your challenge. But what will a circular society of the future look like, 10 years from now?
To map out directions: use your collective imagination!
Location: FC Twente soccer stadium! (subject to change)
- During the finale, together with your group, you will co-create your ideas and bring them to life. What can we do now as a society, and what steps can we take to make these futures happen?
- Together with your group, you present your outcomes.
- The challenge has ended, but the afternoon still has a lot to offer. Spend your free time well! What about enjoying a tour at FC Twente, now that you're here? Or do you want to perform physical exercises at UTs Sports Centre? You could also go on a shopping spree in the city centre.
- CurioCities: Futures Unlocked* has almost come to an end. But not without a festive ceremony and party! We come together to enjoy dinner, music and: you will receive your CurioCities-certificate.
☝️ Final time tables will be published on the 1st of May, 2025.
Certificate
On the final day, when you have participated in the whole programme, you will receive a CurioCities-certificate. You can get a maximum of 1 European Credit (ECTS). 1ECTS = 28 hours. We would like to point out that recognition of credits is at the discretion of your home institution.
