Opera, rock and harmonie
Glanerbrug Music Association will perform a joint concert. Wilhelmina will open the evening with a try-out performance for their upcoming concert in Kerkrade, dedicated to their former conductor Sef Pijpers. Under the direction of Fried Dobbelstein, they will perform powerful pieces such as Bacchus on Blue Ridge by Joseph Horovitz, Danse unambulesque by Jules Strens, and the opera overture I Vespri Siciliani by Giuseppe erdi. This diverse program showcases the many colors of wind orchestra music.
After the break, SHOT, led by Ronny Buurink, will bring their own rich musical palette to the stage. The orchestra will perform a mix of classic rock and beautiful harmonies, featuring Innuendo by Queen and selections from Three Revelations on the Lotus Sutra by Alfred Reed. From this last work, SHOT will play the third movement, Rejoicing, conveying the message that peace is not merely the absence of war, pain, and sorrow, but rather something beautiful and precious in its own right.
