The decision

  • How to calculate the force majeure allowance?
    1. The number of months in the delayed period (only within the C+1 period) will be determined.
    2. The number of ECTS credits that you had to complete for your bachelor or master at the start of the delayed period will be determined. The support is maximized to the time necessary to complete your course (based on a nominal study pace of 5 ECTS per month).
    3. The number of ECTS credits completed in the recognisable delayed period will be determined. This will be converted to months, assuming 5 EC per month.

The force majeure allowance in months is:
the number of months of the recognized delayed period minus the months calculated for completed credits during the recognized delayed period (maximized to the months you had to complete your degree at the start of the delayed period).

Also is taken into account previously obtained support. The total support is maximized to 24 months (up to € 8,000) for the total period of enrolment at the UT.

  • What is the amount for a month Force Majeure Allowance?

The amount is equal to the average monthly tuition fee paid in the recognized delayed period paid by the student (up to a maximum of € 8,000 for the entire period of enrollment at the UT). It will be paid as a gift.

  • Do I have to pay taxes when receiving a Force Majeure Allowance?

No, it is a compensation out of the Profiling Fund (WHW 7.51) which is not taxable.

  • I have already receive other support. Will that effect the decision on my current application?

During the same period of study delay: If you have already received activism grants, top-level sports or top-level arts grants for the same (or overlapping) period for which you have applied for a force majeure allowance, the number of grants will be deducted from the calculated force majeure allowance.

Per calendar year: the months' force majeure allowances, activism grants, top-level sports/-arts grants together in one year are maximized to 12.

For your entire enrolment period: the force majeure allowances are maximized to 24 months (max. € 8,000).

  • How do I receive the decision on my application?

De Personal Circumstance Committee (CPO) will send you their decision by email to your UT-mail. When you want to receive the decision on another email address, please inform the registry of the CPO
