Dutch B2/C1 (on-campus or online)

Result

In this advanced course, participants will extend their knowledge of Dutch, going from CEF-level B2 to B2/ C1. Participants receive a certificate if the course portfolio is evaluated positively and after full attendance.

Content

If you have made it to level B2 (and possibly have taken the State Examination NT2 programme II), you will be able to participate in every-day life in the Netherlands without any problems. But you may want to expand your skills, such as communicating in Dutch at an academic level. If this is the case, you can continue to improve your language proficiency in the B2-C1 course. In this course, you will use the first four chapters from the book Nederlands naar Perfectie and possibly also sources and materials of your own.

The course consists of one lesson per week, with the exception of the first week. The first lesson is an introduction lesson of 1 hour were the teacher will give you more information about the set-up of the course.

During the practice lessons, you will work on your oral language skills under the guidance of your teacher. You can also ask your teacher questions about the self-study programme from the preparation lessons and about language issues that you encounter in every-day life.

You will be evaluated based on a portfolio, which you have to complete by the end of the course. The portfolio consists of listening and reading tests, speaking and writing assignments and a spoken exam in the final lesson. If the result is satisfactory, you will be able to enrol in the C1 course.

Duration and Time investment

Attendance at every lesson is essential. The course consists of 1 lesson of 1 hour (first lesson) and 10 lessons of two hours.

Please take into account the fact that the course will involve approx. 6 hours of work per week: 4 hours of homework and 2 hours in the practice lesson. Homework is best divided into four times half an hour, which works better than doing everything in one go.
