Description project
To reach national climate goals, the Netherlands must rapidly accelerate its energy and circularity transitions. Power Up! addresses this urgency by supporting 18 learning communities (LCs) in developing the human and organizational capacities needed for system-level change. These LCs bring together industry, education, research, and government to collectively envision ecosystem-level futures and experiment with socio-technical challenges.
This project focuses on three work packages: (1) designing and evaluating methods and tools for effective interorganizational learning and innovation; (2) developing strategies for shared ecosystem envisioning and translating visions into concrete innovation challenges; and (3) supporting collaboration and transformative learning within innovation teams. All outcomes are integrated into the “Power Up Toolkit” to guide LCs in making informed decisions on how to support and monitor their learning and innovation processes.
Power-Up consists of three integrated parts:
- WP1 (led by Saxion and Hogeschool Rotterdam) develops and evaluates tools for setting up and supporting LCs.
- WP2 (led by VU Amsterdam) focuses on shared visioning, strategy alignment, and deriving innovation challenges.
- WP3 (led by the University of Twente) studies innovation teams' collaboration and professionals’ transformative learning.
Expected outcomes
Power-Up aims to deliver three main outcomes:
- Learning communities that effectively develop shared visions and experiment with challenges aligned with these visions.
- Organizations that stay committed to LCs and implement innovative practices in line with transition pathways.
- Professionals who develop innovation and learning capacities to rethink and adapt their work practices.
These outcomes will be supported by practical tools, methods, and training programs, all bundled into the Power Up Toolkit. The project will contribute to accelerating transitions by strengthening the human capital and organizational infrastructure needed for collaborative innovation.
