UT-IKNL: Electronic Symptom monitoring in patients with metastatic breast cancer

Organisation UT-IKNL

Location Enschede-Utrecht

Desired period of internship November – February

The assignment

IKNL is the national knowledge institute for oncological care and research. IKNL collects and analyses data on cancer and works to improve the quality of oncological care in the Netherlands.

IKNL and UT collaborate in the SYMPHA trial. In this large scale study we examine the value of regular electronic symptom monitoring in patients with metastatic breast cancer in 28 Dutch hospitals. (for more info on this studie see here or here (in Dutch) for more information. The study has recently started and up until now 9 patients have been included.

Within this project there is room for an intern. Tasks could be:

1.       Writing an R-script for (longitudinal) analysis of the data of the symptom monitoring app, or.
2.       Conducting a literature review on factors that influence uptake, adherence and user satisfaction with completing ePRO tools or Fitbit tools, in cancer patients

We are looking for a student with affinity with either quantitative data analysis and R, ór someone who really enjoys delving into literature on this topic.

You may work from home or from the UT, but you are also welcome to work at the IKNL office (near train station Utrecht). Travel expenses may be reimbursed.
