UT philosophy professors in the news

Naomi Jacobs, Assistant Professor in Bioethics at the University of Twente, was interviewed by The Washington Post this past weekend for an article about the "femtech" industry. Here is an excerpt:

“Why is it that we as women need to close the gender health gap by buying all kinds of expensive commercial-health applications?” asked Naomi Jacobs, an assistant professor in bioethics at the University of Twente in the Netherlands and co-author of a 2023 critique. “Even if they’re not that expensive, because they’re apps, we’re paying with our most intimate data.”

Also this past weekend, Nolen Gertz, Associate Professor of Applied Philosophy at the University of Twente, was interviewed by Tubantia for an article about attempts both in the United States and in the Netherlands to prevent international students from enrolling in universities. Here is an excerpt:

Senior lecturer in philosophy at UT, Nolen Gertz, talks about how he views the situation in America. Gertz is from the United States and came to Twente in 2015 to teach at UT. He sees that Trump's administration is doing its best to drive away international students. UT students were already increasingly reluctant to go to the U.S., Gertz says. “It's also currently my colleagues who are discussing if they would go to a conference in the United States.” Gertz heard from American students at UT that they would rather not return to their home country and stay in the Netherlands. “But due to cuts in education funding and an anti-immigration policy by the Dutch government, they also feel less and less welcome here.”
