Teach your own class

ASSIGNMENT

As a master’s student, you have already gained quite some experience in participating in education, shaping your view. Are you ready to switch perspectives? In this internship, you get to develop and provide education to first-year bachelor students.

The Psychology programme of the UT uses project-based learning in the bachelor. For ten weeks, students work together in small groups consisting of people with different (cultural) backgrounds and motivations. Developing knowledge and skills regarding group dynamics stimulates students’ learning to not only be part of such a group, but also influence its process and performance. Particularly when it comes to intragroup conflict, this is not only a bonus but often a requirement to prevent students from experiencing similar issues repeatedly.

Therefore, based on what you learned in Group Dynamics and Interventions, you will design a masterclass of 90 minutes on intragroup conflict. In the second part of your internship, you will provide this class to students.

Developing and teaching skills requires taking students’ perspectives: matching their current level, building engagement, and choosing appropriate methods to achieve your learning outcomes. You need to work systematically in the design process, yet remain flexible to connect in class and tailor to needs. Are you up for this challenge?
