Evaluating reasons for reporting and nonreporting of sexual abuse in men

Assignment

An ongoing project with the Dutch Police Academy is conducting research to understand why men who have experiences sexual violence choose to report or not to the police. Due the operational requirements of police officers to follow up on reports of (ongoing) sexual assault, there is a need for a non-police interviewer to conduct interviews with participants. You will thereby act as interviewer for this research project, and provide some additional support including helping with preparing data, and preliminary analyses. The goal of the internship is likely to involve developing materials that explain the outcomes of the research for the supporting organisation which specialises in supporting victims of sexual violence.

There will also most likely be an opportunity to build from this initial work in an MSc thesis.

Sexual violence; male victims; crime reporting; intimate partner violence
