Summary
A study by Dialogic, Oberon and KiTeS (CHEPS), commissioned by the Ministry of Education, Culture and Science into the structure of the academic year. The impression is that the length and layout of the academic year of Dutch universities is one of the factors that contributes to a high workload and study pressure. The study looked at how comparable European universities organise their academic year and what lessons can be learned from this for Dutch bachelor's programmes. Can the Dutch academic year be organised in a smarter way so that work and study pressure decreases? On the basis of a systematic comparison in different scientific disciplines, a large number of recommendations are made for study programmes, institutions and the ministry.
