Supervisors: Chandan Dasgupta, Natasha Dmoshinskia & Sara van der linden

Schools are expected to prepare their students for the future life, which nowadays also includes dealing with uncertain futures and addressing challenges on social, environmental, and economic level, which are taking place in a fast-changing landscape. Moreover, advances in the technology, like AI, provide new challenges and opportunities for education. More and more attention is given to a holistic approach to education with special consideration for well-being of both students and educators. These new developments require (new) ways to support educators’ professional growth and equip them with the required capabilities. Our research project (funded by the International Baccalaureate (IB)) focuses on outlining these (new) ways. The internship will take place within this research project and thus focuses on a sub-goal described below. In a previous phase of the project, important trends for education and associated educator capabilities have been identified and refined through a policy literature review and expert panel. At the current stage of the project the aim is to identify priorities in the development of educator capabilities at different educational levels and different parts of the world. Work done as part of this internship will likely have global impact.

The internship assignment aims to explore priorities in educators’ professional development needs through a survey based in the previously identified trends for education. To do so the internship will mainly use quantitative methods with the main focus on the analysis of the surveys distributed to a pre-selected representative sample including respondents from different parts of the world. This big and comprehensive data set will present a unique view on teachers’ perceptions and needs.

The task may include but not limit to:
