Internships

Why an internship?

The master track Educational Psychology (EP) offers master students the opportunity to do an internship. Starting the academic year 2022-2023, the internship is a mandatory part of the master curriculum. Internships give master students the opportunity to take their first steps in their future occupational field by exploring an organization or environment within the field of education. Furthermore, an internship allows students to gain relevant work experience by facilitating the student to experience her/himself as a young professional and finding out what interests them and what not, have a clearer grasp on their talents and strengths, but also on areas in which they can or should improve.

The internship assignment is usually developed in close collaboration with the internal or external partner and should be an assignment that is usually carried out by a psychologist in the occupational field and that benefits the organization providing the internship. In the context of Educational Psychology, this means that the internship project must relate to learning and includes a psychological, academic view.

Acquiring an internship?

How do you acquire an internship? First, you have to make a choice about the objective of your internship. Would you like to conduct your internship at a company or institution other than the University of Twente, you will have to find an external internship assignment. Important external organizations that we work with sometimes offer possibilities for an internship, see external internships below. It is also possible to arrange an assignment yourself by seeking an organization for an internship in collaboration with a supervisor from IST.

You can also pursue an internal internship assignment with a focus on either research or education. This involves working on a concrete assignment in an ongoing research project or a track/module/course at our department, see internal internships below.
