Analysing social infrastructure for circular sustainable transition in the IS2H4C project

PhD candidate: Aidana Tleuken

This PhD examines how Hubs for Circularity can be designed, governed, and scaled to enable industrial symbiosis and sustainable regional development. It begins by developing a stakeholder engagement framework that identifies the critical success factors for effective collaboration in H4C initiatives. Using social network analysis, the research then explores how information and resources flow between actors, revealing the structures that support or hinder cooperation. The study investigates trust dynamics between companies and between companies and consumers, showing how trust shapes participation and long term commitment. It further analyzes how awareness and adoption of industrial symbiosis diffuse across urban, rural, and industrial networks. Finally, the research assesses the environmental and socio economic impacts of H4C implementation.
Together, these findings provide practical guidance for policymakers, practitioners, and regional leaders seeking to build resilient circular ecosystems grounded in collaboration, trust, and measurable impact.
