Renze Kolster

The central question of Renze’s PhD project is if and to what extent honours – or excellence – education and an international experience contribute to graduates’ employability and their employment outcomes. The study’s ontology recognises that there are two sides to this topic: perceptions and reality. It will therefore involve studying perceptions of students and employers, and whether these perceptions are supported by objective outcome measures. The study aims to contribute to our theoretical understanding of employability mechanisms (e.g. skills or signals), and be able to advise students and higher education institutions on effects of certain educational choices.
