GENERAL INFORMATION BA PRE-MASTER’S PROGRAMME

Application procedure: establishing deficiencies

Every application for the MSc Business Administration (MSc BA) programme is assessed individually, based on the programme requirements. A candidate will be assessed to see if they have any deficiencies relating to the MSc BA programme. If there are no deficiencies, a candidate can be admitted directly to the MSc BA programme. If deficiencies are identified, it will be ascertained if these deficiencies can be eliminated with 30 EC (European Credits). If this is the case, the University of Twente will offer a bridging programme. Such a programme is called a pre-master’s programme, and it helps students transferring from similar programmes at other institutes of higher education (research universities or universities of applied sciences) to eliminate deficiencies. In general, the Pre-Master’s programme is not a standard package; courses taken by a student are determined on a case-by-case basis according to the needs of the individual student and are dependent on the candidate’s previous education. A student can not apply for a pre-master’s programme directly; it has to be appointed by the Admissions Committee after applying to the specific MSc programme.

The Pre-Master’s Programme

Although no standard programme exists, we do try to standardise the procedure and the content of a pre-master’s. Generally speaking, the BA Pre-Master’s programme for students with a (business administration related) bachelor's degree achieved at a university of applied sciences is normally worth 30 EC and is given each semester in English. In principle, all courses will consist of training in research methods and techniques as well as academic skills. Where possible, the topics are related to Business Administration. This involves 6 courses, each worth 5 EC (see both tables below for the standardised package).

You can find the full course description on the Osiris course catalogue by entering the codes which can be found below:

Please Note:

Any personal circumstances that may affect the progress of your course of study must be reported immediately to your study advisor.

The Pre-Master’s programme must be completed within 12 months after commencement. Each student is given a maximum of two opportunities to pass the exams for each course. If you do not complete the Pre-Master’s programme within 12 months, you may not register for the MSc BA programme. If this is the case, but you are able to prove that due to personal circumstances you could not complete the programme, you can then submit a request to the Admissions Committee for an exemption via the study advisor.

After students have finalised their Pre-Master’s and their Bachelor's programme, students will be admitted to the MSc Business Administration programme of the University of Twente.
