Description of Assignment

Transfore and De Waag are both forensic psychiatric facilities in which risk assessment (RA) is paramount. Until recently, RA was the domain of clinicians. However, patients play an increasing role in this process. To give patients more agency, an RA-instrument, the FARE, has been transferred into a web-based patient version. This app has been developed and is currently being investigated. Part of this research is a usability test among clients. In the current assignment, the student will develop and execute the usability test among app. 10 clients, most likely using the think-aloud method, combined with semi-structured interviews. As a result, the student will report on the findings of this tests and offer recommendations for improvements of the app. Due to the type of project, the ability to speak and understand Dutch well is a requirement. As this project will be shaped as an internship, the student will be part of the department of research and, if applicable, participate in activities of the department and will receive compensation. Besides an interesting population, Transfore offers the student regular supervision and an open-door policy.
