The Van den Kroonenberg Prize for young entrepreneurship is awarded to an entrepreneur that has clear ties to the University of Twente and that has proved him or herself to be a good entrepreneur.
The starting point constitutes a long list of companies that the panel monitors on an annual basis. The list is added to every year with suggestions made by all kinds of parties such as scientific institutes of the UT, Kennispark Twente and others.
The criteria applied involve the ties that exist between the entrepreneur and the UT, the innovation of the products and services supplied and their proven technical and economic viability and future prospects.
These criteria are used to compile a shortlist of five entrepreneurs or businesses. They are all visited by the panel, which uses the visits as the basis for a final recommendation issued to the Twente University Fund Board.
Lastly, the Twente University Fund Board selects the winner.
