Founded in 2020 by a couple who feel strongly connected to the Clinical Neurophysiology department of prof.dr.ir. Michel van Putten and prof.dr. Jeannette Hofmeijer and various research projects.
"For a few years now, we have been supporting the chair of Prof. Michel van Putten and Prof. Jeannette Hofmeijer with an annual contribution. In doing so, we do not look at deadlines or concrete results, but we try to experience something of the red ears that scientists have when they try to push boundaries. Michel and Jeannette's team is researching the functioning of neurons in brain cells under the influence of external stimulation. In the future, this could help victims of oxygen deprivation in the brain due to an infarction or injury to better recovery chances. Every year we visit the team and look at new developments in the laboratory. A striking step forward, a few years ago, was that the research can now take place on human brain tissue grown from stem cells instead of on prepared brain tissue from rats. Making neurons visible under the microscope at various stages of activity by specifically staining them was also a visible improvement. It is also a pleasure to chat with the team during the annual visit over drinks and dinner. Always informative but also fun. We greatly appreciate the work this team does and every year we are curious about the progress. It also helps you to read articles in the field of their research more selectively."
