The key disciplines of the group are: process development, separations, reaction/reactor engineering and industrial chemistry/catalysis. In our research method we include the evaluation of whole process chains in order to identify main bottlenecks and related scientific challenges. Typically, the experimental work starts with high throughput screening activities (mg scale) to scan the operating regimes and ends at PDU (process development unit) level of 1 kg/h to obtain proof of principle data. Modelling activities are carried out at multi-scale level (e.g. for biomass pyrolysis: cell wall, particle, reactor, process).
