GENERAL INFORMATION

Eliane Nieuwenhuis was born in Voorburg, the Netherlands, in 1991. After graduating high school in 2009 she started to study Technical Medicine at the University of Twente. She performed her graduation internship at the cardiology department of the University Medical Centre Utrecht (UMCU) on the visualization of the left phrenic nerve. And obtained her master’s degree in Technical Medicine (Medical Imaging & Interventions) in 2016. After graduation she started a PhD position at MD&I.

RESEARCH INTERESTS

During her PhD she will work on the IronNanoLoc-project. In this project the focus will be on the use of iron oxide nanoparticles for localization of the sentinel node and detection of metastatic lymph nodes in head and neck cancer. The project is in collaboration with clinical (UMC Utrecht, RadboudUMC Nijmegen & MST Enschede) and industrial partners (AIM, Holland Innovative & TOPIC). The project received a grant of STW-KWF.
