Biography

Hans Neubauer is a Professor for Translational Research in Gynecology at the Heinrich-Heine University Düsseldorf (HHU), Germany. His major research interests are in the field of tumor progression of breast cancer and minimal residual disease in breast and gynecologic cancers. Currently, his work focuses on isolation and molecular characterization of disseminated cancer cells into the blood and bone marrow. Prior to joining the HHU, Hans Neubauer was a groupleader in gynecological oncology and translational research at the Department of Gynecology & Obstetrics, University Hospital Tuebingen (Clinical director: Prof. Dr. D. Wallwiener). Before that he was a postdoctoral fellow in the field of 'Developmental Haematopoiesis' (Prof. A. Medvinsky) at the Institute for Stem Cell Science (Head: Prof. A. Smith), University of Edinburgh, Scotland. Hans Neubauer performed his PhD thesis at the Institute of Medical Microbiology, Immunology and Hygiene (Prof. K. Pfeffer), Technical University of Munich, Germany. He studied biology at the Technical University Munich, Germany.
