Climate Café

Four times per year the Climate Centre organizes the Climate Café: an informal event where you can meet and be inspired by people who are passionate about education and research that supports climate action. Researchers and students share their work to fight climate change and we will inform you about the latest developments and future plans for the Climate Centre itself. Of course, there will be room for your questions, your ideas and comments, and time to connect with your fellow researchers at UT.

Programme

Presentation dr. Diana Reckien: IPCC participation and reflections on the UNFCCC and COP28 in Dubai

Dr. Diana Reckien is Associate Professor at ITC, Department of Urban and Regional Planning and Geo-Information Management (PGM). Until 2022, Diana was also Coordinating Lead Author of the Working Group II Contribution to the IPCC Sixth Assessment Report (AR6), coordinating work for 'Chapter 17: Decision-making options for managing risk'. She will give a presentation about the results of the most recent global climate conference, COP28, that takes place from 30 november until 12 december 2023 in Dubai, where she was a participant as part of the IPCC.

Reflections on the 2023 Climate Seed Funding Calls

In July 2023, the Climate Centre awarded nine climate-related projects seed funding after our first call for proposals. Now, six months later, three project teams will give an update and reflect on their status:

  • Andreas Weber, Coloniality of Sustainable Technologies in an Age of Climate Change
  • Devrim Yazan, Circular Economy Platform Twente
  • Florian Ellsäßer, Developing climate smart water management in agriculture on a farm run by citizens

Drinks and networking

At the end of the meeting, there will be ample time time to meet your fellow researchers, educators and students interested in finding solutions to the climate crisis.
