1. Everything is close by
No more rushing across town to get to your next lecture! At the campus, everything is just a stone’s throw away – not only lecture halls and labs but also the library, grocery store, gym, and even a hair salon. You can find it all in one place! In theory, you could spend all your time on campus (though we’d recommend getting out a bit; the city is great, too). And if you live on campus, you’re even better off – you can literally roll out of bed ten minutes before class and still make it on time!
2. You’ll always run into friends
Whatever bachelor’s programme you choose, all lectures, tutorials, and lab work are on campus. And with so many study spots around, most students spend their days there, meaning you will always bump into some familiar faces! Whether you’re heading to the library after class, going for a jog on the track, or just chilling on the Carillon field to unwind – your friends are never far away.
3. Meet students from other programmes
All faculty buildings are within walking distance of each other (unlike in most student cities in the Netherlands, where they’re spread out over the city centre). This makes it easy to meet students from other study programmes, even if you’re not in a student association. Building connections across different studies is effortless and definitely enriches your university experience!
4. Affordable sports and cultural facilities
Football, swimming, athletics, climbing, dancing, singing, painting, theatre, making music in the studios – you name it, you can do it! Whatever you like to do in your free time, you can be sure you can do it on campus (seriously, check out our article on unique sports if you don’t believe us). As a student at UT, you have year-round access to these sports and cultural facilities for an affordable price. And the best part? They’re all within walking distance.
5. Recharge in nature
Exam stress? Tired after a day of lectures? Or just in need of a break from the busy student life? You can always escape into nature on campus. Take a breather in one of the parks, go for a walk or run through the woods, or gather your friends, order a pizza, and relax on the Carillon field. Selfcare, baby!
6. True student culture
The UT campus was designed by and for students, and you can feel it! Most students who live on campus are actively involved in student life, whether that’s through associations, social clubs, or within their student housing community. There’s always room to start something new, and if there’s something campus doesn’t offer yet, you can make it happen! It’s the perfect place to shape your student experience the way you want.
7. Affordable housing
One of the best things about a campus university? You can live there too! It feels like a small town, but with only people your age! Since most campus housing is specifically built for students, it’s affordable. Renting a room on campus is often cheaper than living in most student cities – some rooms go for under €300 a month! Prefer your own studio? That’s possible too, with prices around €600 per month.
8. You’re surrounded by students
On campus, it’s students, students – and more students! Everything here is geared toward student life, which is not only super exciting (think house parties, Friday afternoon drinks, and festivals) but also incredibly motivating: everyone is here with the same goals – to study and enjoy an unforgettable student life. This makes it easy to motivate and support each other, whether it’s with coursework or by getting involved in campus life. One thing is certain: everything you need for the best time of your life is right here on campus.
