Tipping points in nature

A tipping point is a fascinating phenomenon in which a huge change takes place in a short period of time. This can happen in a stock market, in our climate or in an ecosystem. Prof. Dr. ir. Max Rietkerk (Full professor Spatial Ecology and Global Change at Utrecht University) is specialised in predicting sudden changes in ecosystems. He studied savannahs and concluded that these are far more resilient to (climate) change than expected. Can the Earth’s climate as a whole also take a punch? In cooperation with Scientists4Future Twente, SAB-ITC and Ideefiks.
